Tang Wei, you should either just die of beauty or kill me!
Before other actresses go on the red carpet, they cut off water and carbon to keep their bodies and beauty at their peak.
The first time I saw a woman, she was eating Kung Pao chicken and taking pictures with her posters on the street.

The first time I saw a woman, she was wearing a simple dress.
The newest film of director Park Chan-wook, starring Tang Wei and Park Hae-il, had its world premiere at the Cannes International Film Festival yesterday.

The film was selected for the main competition in Cannes.
The film is about the complicated emotional story between a criminal police officer and the wife of a deceased man.
After the screening, the audience gave a standing ovation for eight minutes, and Tang Wei received a lot of praise for her performance.

The Daily Telegraph (UK): A+ performance by Tang Wei, with a great ending scene.
The New York Times: Tang Wei gave the best performance of her career, and was amazed.
Someone else commented: “No Chinese actor has won the A-list festival since Maggie Cheung won Cannes in 2004, but this time it looks like it’s going to break the mould!”

The Korean film company CJ, which produced the film “Parasite”, has said that “The Resolution to Break Up” has set a record for overseas sales of Korean films, surpassing “Parasite” by 192 countries and territories, and that the film may also be in the running for the Oscars next year.

Let’s look forward to the day when Ms Tang Wei goes from Cannes to the Oscars!
Park Chan-wook, the director of Tang Wei’s new film, is a Korean “national treasure”. His films are full of human, religious and violent elements, and his content is often labelled as revenge and betrayal, with his “revenge trilogy”, “I Want Revenge”, “Old Boy” and “Kind Gold” being classics in Korean cinema.
This year’s Cannes Film Festival marks Park Chan-wook’s fourth Palme d’Or nomination, following Oldboy (2004), The Bat (2009) and Miss (2016), the first two of which won the Jury Prize in their respective years.

Not much to say about how great the previous films were, but COCO, who loves to look at beautiful women, must talk about the beautiful women in Park’s lens!
Park Chan-wook is a director who is particularly good at finding the sparkle in his actresses. The female leads under his lens always have a different kind of beauty and really don’t shoot women too well.

One person even commented, “But all the actresses chosen by director Park Chan-wook have all gone on to become big stars”. And of course, that’s true.
This time his leading lady is the actress we know as Tang Wei.

In an interview, Park Chan-wook said, “One day, I sat down with my long-time collaborator, Ms. Jung Seo-kyung, to discuss what we should do for our next project. The script suggested that the female character in the new film must be Chinese, so that Tang Wei could be cast. Park Chan-wook agreed on the spot, “I really liked the idea because I’m a big fan of Tang Wei.”
”In a sense, Tang Wei and her character Xu Lai are inseparable. Even though I had never met Tang Wei when I started writing, I took the impressions I had made in all her previous performances and used them as the basis for her character. When I finally met her, we became very close and I made further adjustments (to the script) as a result.”

Park Chan-wook never minces words in his praise of Tang Wei: “As an actress, there is a very bold quality about Tang Wei, there seems to be no limit to what she can express, but at the same time you can hardly read her. She’s like an abyss, a deep well, I don’t want to describe it as mysterious, but she does have such depth that it’s deeply intriguing. It’s quite rare for an actor.”

PS: It is also reported that Park Chan-wook has booked Tang Wei as the female lead for his next film.
So, what does Tang Wei look like under Park Chan-wook’s lens this time?
In the images released so far, she is atmospheric, with a twinkle in her eye and a sense of beauty, but we will have to go to the cinema to find out the final picture.

Park Chan-wook also had this to say about Tang Wei: “Even though the character in the film is no movie star, she was born elegant – you can see it in the way she sits, walks and talks.”

COCO remembers reading a Q&A on ‘How to be more graceful’ a long time ago, and one blogger said, “Go practice your grooming.” Looking at Tang Wei again, it really makes a bit of sense.
A model of elegance and atmosphere 👇

Cool at heart
Tang Wei, at almost every turn, is refreshing our perception of cool and our definition of what a female celebrity should be. Her performance and style are, in many ways, far from what we imagine this gorgeous and colourful profession to be.

She has never competed for traffic, eyeballs, or bought hot searches. She has been on the scene for over a decade, has no Weibo, and doesn’t show her face until she makes a film.

She doesn’t wear much make-up when she goes out, and wears the most comfortable clothes she can find to go to the grocery market.
Tang Wei’s wedding was also a famous occasion, with a total of three or four people at the scene, and the entire wedding ceremony did not last more than 20 minutes, even the only wedding photos were taken by friends at the scene. It was as if she was the heroine in a movie who threw everything away to marry her love.

Her only social media account, which has only been posting occasional snippets of her daily life since 2017, has only about 8W followers so far, documenting her life in the Korean countryside where she and her husband settled after their marriage.
Growing potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers and playing with her children …… It became Tang Wei’s daily life.
She is as bashful as a vegetarian outside of her circle, and can even catch the underground to work during her big break.

Tang Wei is also full of personality and coolness in her conversation.
In one SK2 commercial, Tang Wei was asked about her thoughts on marriage and children. She said, “When I was a kid, I thought it was my big plan to get married and have kids at 30, but then I couldn’t do it. My birthday was in Greece, and I cried for half a day in front of the ancient city of Athens, looking at the moon and asking why. I haven’t planned it since.” A playful, light-hearted tone, followed by a string of cheerful hahaha…
She was also asked, “On her view of age, Tang Wei said that age is a number, and the number equates to the things you will do and the changes your body will make at this stage, a reminder of the process of life so that you don’t miss some of the scenery.” The perspective and tone are chic and spontaneous.
As soon as she opens her mouth, you get the sense that this is a well-educated woman with her own thoughts and judgements, and you never tire of hearing a few paragraphs.
Going further back in her study abroad career, you can see that this girl is really cool as hell!
To earn her high tuition fees, she stood on the side of the road selling clothes, worked part-time at a club as an escort and earned every penny of her rent and the cost of her language classes.

Beautiful in everyday life
For those who don’t like Tang Wei’s looks, she is bland, and for those who do, she is durable.

COCO prefers the latter. She has a hexagonal face, which is pretty but not overly angular, with three standard chambers and five slightly narrow eyes, the best proportions for the camera. A pair of slightly upturned triangular eyes, narrow double eyelids and a slight pupil shading make her eyes look more determined and hooked.

Especially in this age of big double eyelids, a plain and bland face is like a good base to add more substance to.
It’s no wonder people say that the formula for Tang Wei’s beauty is: video > motion pictures > mobile phone pictures > DSLR pictures > retouching > fancy filters.
This is Tang Wei’s second time on the Cannes red carpet after 11 years.
Eleven years ago, a white halter dress was clean and elegant.
Eleven years later, a light pink FENDI Fall/Winter 2021 Haute Couture collection gown, soft and elegant, set off her temperament.

And because of her foot injury, this time Tang Wei stepped directly onto the red carpet with flat shoes.

Beauty seems to flow out of her without a second thought.
Last but not least, I hope the domestic release of ‘Break-Up Resolution’ is sooner rather than later, COCO can’t wait to see it in the cinema!

After all, she is the woman who left her halo and aura to the screen!
