Where does it sit—mainstream or alternative?
Where does it sit—mainstream or alternative?
Red light therapy exists in a kind of hybrid space between mainstream and alternative medicine.
On one hand, it is supported by a growing body of scientific research and is used in clinical settings for specific applications. This gives it credibility within the medical community.
On the other hand, it is also widely adopted in wellness and biohacking communities, where it is used for general optimization rather than strictly medical purposes.
Because of this dual identity, some people still classify it as alternative medicine. However, that perception is gradually changing as more research emerges and more healthcare professionals incorporate it into their practices.
In my view, it’s best described as an evidence-based wellness technology that is increasingly becoming part of mainstream healthcare.
